Interview with Jason and Jennifer Catalanotto, your local REALTORS® for Wesley Chapel.

What do you do for fun?

When we are not working we like to spend as much time as we can with our family and friends. We have three amazing kids that keep us pretty busy. When we are not running to sports and school events we usually head to the beach or Disney World. Really, we have fun doing anything that gets us out enjoying the beautiful Florida sunshine.

What are your favorite things to do in the neighborhood?

There are so many great things Wesley Chapel has to offer but we have to say one of our favorites is the Fresh Market at The Shops at Wiregrass. The Fresh Market is full of many great vendors and unique small businesses. We really enjoy walking around and connecting with real people in our community.

What are your favorite restaurants in the neighborhood?

The answer to this question will differ depending on who you ask in our family. The women in our family really love Grillsmith and the men like Buffalo Wild Wings. There are other restaurants that we really enjoy such as Burger Monger, Los Vallartas, and PDQ just to name a few. Oh, and the kids would be very upset if we forgot Happy Cow!

What makes you stand out from other realtors?

We think there are several things that make us stand out from other realtors however, we feel the biggest difference with us is education. The most important thing we can do for our clients is educate them. For most, buying or selling a home is the largest financial decisions and life events. We want all of our clients to go through the home buying and/or selling process feeling confident and educated. We are local agents who live here, our kids go to school here and we are involved in many community events, fundraisers and organizations. By being involved in the community we have a true grasp of what is going on with the real estate market and in the community. We feel we are advisers and we focus on educating our clients to help them make the best decisions for their family.

Why did you become a real estate agent?

This one is actually a really hard one to answer. I don’t think we ever entered into this career expecting to get out of it what we have. What started out as just another business venture has turned into so much more. We really love what we do and we truly enjoy our clients. We have met so many amazing people and we can say we now call many of them friends.

What’s the most memorable experience you’ve had with a client?

Buying and selling a home is a major life decision and we truly feel it is a privilege when our clients trust us to be a part of that life decision. We really do appreciate all of our clients but there is something special about the first time home buyers. There is no better feeling then knowing you had a part in helping someone achieve a life goal. It is such a special time in a person’s life and we feel so lucky to get to share in that moment,

What do you care most about when buying a new home?

For us the community was what we cared about most when we were buying our house. When we were relocating from Ohio we looked at several different areas. We were looking for a community we could see ourselves raising our family. We just fell in love with Wesley Chapel and now we could not imagine living anywhere else.

What’s your favorite piece of technology?

We both said phone.

Who are some of your business idols and role models? And why?

Jennifer – I would have to say my father. He owned restaurants and I grew up watching the way he interacted with his employees. I was always so impressed with how much his staff respected him. Many of the employees worked for my family for a very long time and now they are like family to me. When I was a teenager my father said something that has always stuck with me. He told me, “You are never too good for any job. I am nothing with out these people (talking about his employees). I cannot do everything and if I didn’t have them, we wouldn’t have anything.” He set the bar high and he expected alot but the majority of the staff worked hard for him because deep down they knew he cared and that he valued them. This is just one example of why he is my business idol but I could go on all day on why he is my role model.

If we asked your five-year-old self what you want to be when you grow up, what would you say?

Jason – Baseball player. Jennifer – I always wanted to be a mom.

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

Jason – Lion because I would be the King of the Jungle! Jennifer – Monkey because they seem to have fun.

What do you love about this neighborhood?

What isn’t there to love about Wesley Chapel? The location is great. You are close to Tampa, amazing beaches, Disney, and so much more. We also love watching the area grow and develop. It is exciting to see everything that is going on right now.

How to Boost Your Curb Appeal in Winter

Just because the temperature is cold doesn’t mean you can’t warm buyers’ hearts with your home’s exterior during the winter. Here are a few tips to help make your property inviting.

1. Door Number One
Don’t miss the opportunity to make a great first impression. New doors are worth the investment. Or, give your door a fresh coat of paint and upgrade your handles and knocker with some shiny bling. When appropriate, brightly colored doors can create a charming focal point, especially during winter when the world can seem white and grey.

2. Plant some green
Evergreen shrubs look terrific in pots on the porch and can add allure to your home’s entry.

3. Stash Santa
Past January 1, be sure to take down distracting holiday decorations. No blinking lights, reindeer on the roof, and no inflatable snow snowglobes. You can, however, dress up your front door with a non-denominational winter wreath.

4. To sit, porch-ance to dream
If there’s room on your porch, consider adding a rocking chair or bistro set. While prospective buyers probably won’t consider whiling away the evening out there in winter, the furniture can remind them how nice it is to sit there in warmer weather.
